Staff

At the Caribbean Kidney Center (formerly the Virgin Islands Kidney Center), our staff includes internists and specialists in hypertension and kidney disease (Nephrology).

The Caribbean Islands Kidney Center has the only formally trained Hypertension Specialist in the Territory. He did a fellowship (specialty training) at the University of Michigan and has published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.

Two Nephrologists are also available to treat patients at the Caribbean Islands Kidney Center.


Programs & Services

Hypertension - Many of the most difficult-to-control hypertensive patients end up seeking treatment at the Caribbean Kidney Center, either having been referred by local physicians or by other patients.

Nephrology (Kidney Specialist) – Our Nephrologist/Medical Director has extensive experience in the treatment of all diseases of the kidney and is the only nephrologists on the island performing kidney biopsy as a diagnostic tool. A biopsy is a procedure where a tiny piece of the kidney is obtained and extensive tests performed on that tissue for diagnosis. It is the only way to be absolutely certain of the diagnosis so that treatment can be disease specific. Not all patients however, require biopsy.

For patients on dialysis, it is critical that a relationship exists between the Nephrologist and the patient, a relationship based on information and understanding of the treatment objectives and clearly defined responsibilities of the patient. Our Nephrologist believes that the patient has a large role and responsibility in his/her care and must actively participate in that process.

Internal Medicine - Our Doctors works with you in the coordination of all your health care needs. You can have your choice of physicians. Our doctors pride themselves in listening to your needs, answering your questions, and helping you to become a knowledgeable health care partner. As your partner, the doctor will supervise your primary care most appropriate for your needs.


Same Day Service

Our physicians recognize that unanticipated health care needs arise. Our physicians can accommodate same-day appointments, a benefit available to both established patients and the patients of referring physicians. One call to Caribbean Kidney Center patient care is all that is necessary to receive the highest quality health care for unpredicted medical needs.
